Music
So this post is sort of branching off one of Cody's, but I wanted to talk about music. Music is really an amazing thing. Rather than tv, listening to music is what makes me procrastinate while doing my homework. There are just so many different genres and feelings associated with different songs. I just love trying different songs and discovering new artists. Also, I have really broadened my music "vocabulary", for lack of a better term. I also think that music really enriches one's life. It allows you to relax and destress from the day's activities. It's also a really good way to get to know people, because you can learn a lot about them by their taste in music. So overall, I guess I just really like to experiment with different types of music. Well, except rap. Not a fan of that.

I have the same experience in which my desire to seek out more information about music and listen to it distracts from my homework assignments on the computer. I also love the experience of sharing with other people the knowledge I gain about it and learning what others like (although I am trying not to be rude if I don't like it). Considering how many subgenres there are, from big band to trip-hop and outlaw country to shoegazer, you will find plenty to entertain yourself.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Mackenzie, that you can get to know a lot about a person by their taste in music. It was one of the first questions my husband and I asked each other when we first met. He introduced me to Beth Orton and The Blue Nile, two artists I'd never heard of but immediately fell in love with. The poetry in their lyrics and their heartfelt performances are beautiful, and I liked that he appreciated that kind of thing too. By the way, also not a fan of rap...except I have recently discovered Dessa. Watch some of her performances on youtube. She may change your mind!
